The attorneys and staff at Guy Yudin & Foster, LLP, provide professional legal services and advice individualized to the needs of their clients.  The firm’s commitment to Martin County and Florida’s Treasure Coast is reflected by its work on behalf of small businesses, corporate clients, real estate purchasers, water-front property owners, the building industry, the marine industry and non-profit organizations.

The firm was established in 1983, when William E. "Ted" Guy, Jr., moved his family and his boat to Stuart, Florida. He began his law practice in Stuart and quickly became a fixture in the community providing legal services to individuals, small businesses and the maritime community. Attorney John Yudin joined Ted in 1994 and became a partner in the firm in 2000. Attorney Joanne M. "Jody" Foster joined the firm in 2006 and became the third partner in January 2008.

The early practice of the firm concentrated in civil litigation, with an emphasis on admiralty and maritime law, construction, business, administrative, environmental and land use law. The firm's favorite cases often involved environmental and land use issues and the representation of marine professionals. To help preserve Stuart’s waterfront property for public access, Mr. Guy challenged the original plans for the new Roosevelt Bridge that had been designed to cross directly over Flagler Park. He discovered the original plan was flawed and worked diligently to ensure the bridge was rerouted west of the Park. Recently, the firm initiated a lawsuit that forced the City of Stuart to abandon enforcement of an illegal anchoring ordinance that prohibited boats from anchoring more than three days. Mr. Guy has retired from day-to-day litigation but remains active in maritime, environmental and land use law, and he consults with lawyers in those fields statewide.

Attorneys John Yudin and Jody Foster have expanded the firm’s areas of practice to include real estate transactions and real estate litigation, insurance coverage disputes, and representation of home owners and condominium association. Mr. Yudin and Ms. Foster both continue to carry on the tradition of commitment to the legal needs of Martin County and the Treasure Coast and to community service in this area
